The School and Parents
A full written report will be issued to parents towards the end of the Summer Term. Interim reports are issued in December and March. Open Evenings are regularly held to give parents the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress. We also hold workshops when parents can find out more about our work in school. There are Open Evenings for parents during the Autumn & Summer terms although parents are encouraged to talk to teachers at any time by arrangement.
Parents are always welcome in our school as we like to feel that we work with the parents to help bring out the best in the child. If you need to see the class teacher or Headteacher please make arrangements in advance, unless it is a matter of immediate urgency. The school secretary is in school throughout the day and will be able to take any message.
Parental Involvement In School
We hope to enlist the help of parents and friends of the school who may find it possible to come into school for an hour or so each week to assist the teaching staff in non-teaching situations. We welcome offers of help with reading, swimming, sewing, craft work, music, sport, reading stories to a small group, providing transport to activities and repairing and making apparatus.
Such voluntary work can be a great strength to the school and is a most rewarding and worthwhile experience. We would be pleased to hear from any parent (or grandparent/friend) who feels that they have an hour to spare on a regular basis each week and a talent to offer. I am sure we have many talented people among our parents and friends.
Friends Of Nonington School (FONS)
There is an active and hardworking Parent Teacher Association which runs a number of fund raising and social events throughout the year. The school relies very strongly on this support to enable us to purchase items otherwise impossible.
A general meeting is held during the early part of the school year. All parents of children attending the school are automatically members.
